Review of the Cast and Characters

Page 2

This is page 2 of the three pages about the characters in Dilbert. This is the one that will focus on the Coworkers, the people who work with him. So,read on!

Click here to view a picture of the Boss. The next person on our journey of learning is the Pointy haired boss. The Pointy Haired Boss (PHB) has no name. The reason that Scott Adams made it this way was so that you could "think of him as your own boss." He not techno-literate at all. He is the dumbest person in Dilbert's life. Logically, he's Dilbert's boss. He is suppposed to be a stereotypical manager; using buzzwords (let's verbalize about utilizing the paradigm), an idiot (I sent you an E-Mail. Did you get the "e" is sent you?), and stays on the current business trends, even if he doesn't understand it. He is slightly cruel, but that came natural when he got a job as a manager. However, he doesn't want to look like an idiot, so he does everything stated above as often as possible.

Click here to view a picture of Wally. One unlucky co worker at Dilbert's Company is Wally. Wally is, thankfully for some, one of a kind. He is an engineer in the same department as Dilbert is. Wally, like Dilbert, has no major life outside of work and computers. He is very cynical, sarcastic, and selfish sometimes, trying to work the system to get what he deserves. Occasionally, Wally gets fired, or given an assignment that is a "kiss of death." Wally tries to take it in stride, but he does get some crazy ideas sometimes. Wally is desperate for advancement, but there is no way that Wally will get promoted, except for a small amount of time to a department that will be closed down. Wally goes through a wide variety of "adventures," so there is a good chance that a lot more interesting things are to come.

Click here to view a picture of Alice. One of the only females in Dilbert's workplace is Alice. Alice is terribly overworked, which accounts for her temper. She essentially lives on coffe, and she gets even more of a temper from that. She is female, but it is definate that all of the males in the department fear her. She wants a personal life, but every time she gets one, management is there to crush it. She also has a "take-no-crap" attitude that she is sometimes forced to use. She has pyramid-shaped hair, which evolves into a triangle, which reflects her attitude in no way whatsoever. That pretty much describes her.

Click here to view a picture of Tina. The other major female character at Dilbert's workplace is Tina. Tina is a Technical Writer. She takes "inert jumbles of thoughts" and changes them into ideas. A lot of people mistake her for a word processor. She hates that. In fact, she was introduced as "Tina, the Brittle Tech Writer." She takes everything said as an insult to her race, gender, or proffession.

Click here to view a picture of Asok. Another worker at Dilbert's place of work is Asok the Intern. Asok is an intern, which is a person who works at a place for no money, but gains valuable job experience. So saying, he gets no respect at all. In Dilbert, the main job of an intern is to have his ego crushed so the paid employees can have someone they can look down on. He is from India, and his name is pronounced Ashok. He's become a regular by now.

Click here to view a picture of Catbert. Catbert is the Director of Human Resources (HR). Originally, Scott Adams had Catbert in as a one-time character, who tried to eat Ratbert. He recieved hundreds of emails, requesting "more Catbert." Catbert wasn't named yet, but hundreds of people unaminously named and liked him. Scott Adams decided he needed Catbert in Dilbert's work, so he put him in the positiion of the Director of Human Resources. Human Resource people don't care if you live or die, just like most cats do. He figured it was a perfect fit. So, now Catbert just teases his employees until he downsizes them.
